Test Automation Lead
About the Role
We are seeking a Test Automation Lead to drive the automation strategy, design, and implementation for the platform at the core of our system. This role blends technical leadership with hands-on development: you will define how automation is built and used across multiple projects, while also contributing directly to the test assets yourself.
Our system is diverse and technically rich — spanning multiple UIs, interfaces, and subsystems — and we’re looking for someone who thrives in complex environments and enjoys building scalable automation solutions that serve many teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all test automation activities for the platform, ensuring a unified, scalable approach that supports multiple projects built on top of it.
Design automation solutions that allow tests or test components to be reused across several projects, maximizing efficiency and consistency.
Work with a system that includes:
Number of Linux based embedded devices
Multiple, mainly web based, applications
Internal and external interfaces based on REST, GraphQL and SNMP
Voice over SIP based PA and communication system
Define and evolve the automation strategy, frameworks, and best practices, ensuring alignment with platform architecture and project needs.
Develop automation using Robot Framework, Python and Jython while also evaluating and introducing new tools when beneficial.
Collaborate closely with developers, architects, and product owners to embed automation into the development lifecycle.
Guide and support 10–15 test engineers within the organization who contribute as automation users or co-designers (note: this role does not include line management).
Build, maintain, and optimize automation frameworks and CI/CD integration.
Analyze test results, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement in automation coverage and reliability.
Actively write test automation assets, not just lead the strategy.
What we’re looking for?
Strong experience leading test automation in complex, multi-application or platform environments.
Hands-on expertise with Robot Framework and Python — plus openness to exploring new tools.
Solid understanding of UI automation, API automation, and interface-level testing (REST, GraphQL, SNMP, SIP, Qt, etc.).
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
Ability to design reusable automation components that scale across multiple projects.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence without formal line authority.
A proactive, quality-driven mindset with a passion for building robust automation ecosystems.
This role is located in Tampere.
Why consider this role?
This role gives you real ownership of test automation for a technically complex platform used across multiple products and projects within Teleste’s Public Safety and Mobility business. The systems you work on support public transport and public spaces, where reliability, scalability and long lifecycles matter.
You will shape how automation is designed and reused at scale, while contributing hands‑on to the test assets yourself. This is a role for someone who enjoys complex systems and wants to make a visible, long‑term impact on quality in a meaningful, real‑world context.
Got interested?
If this sounds like the next step for you, send us your application and CV latest on 17th of April 2026. We review candidates throughout the process and will be in touch as soon as possible.
