Business Project Controller

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Business Project Controller to join our Public Safety and Mobility business unit.
In this role, you will act as a finance business partner and challenger for our global project management teams and senior leadership. Your primary mission is to ensure effective financial planning, cost control, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with project and business management.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills, business case modeling expertise, excellent communication abilities, and experience with financial systems and project reporting. You should ideally have 3–5 years of experience in business finance roles.
Key responsibilities
Maintain and monitor global project budgets, estimates, and actual costs in collaboration with project managers
Support cost estimation, cash flow analysis, and financial forecasting from the project sales phase onward
Prepare and deliver regular project financial reports, including cost-to-complete, earned value analyses, variance reports, and cash flow forecasts
Ensure timely, accurate, and well-documented project financial information
Manage month-end and year-end closing activities related to projects, including support for internal and external audits
Present financial insights, trends, and recommendations to senior management to enable effective decision-making
Maintain, optimize, and further develop project control systems, processes, and tools (e.g., AX, Power BI)
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across platforms and reporting environments
Identify financial and operational risks and opportunities within projects
Support contingency planning, scenario analyses, and impact assessments to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities
Competencies and skills
Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in Finance
Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to evaluate project performance metrics
Project Cost Control: Proven ability to manage budgets, track costs, and analyze variances
Financial Reporting & Analysis: Skilled in preparing and interpreting project financial reports
ERP & Project Management Tools: Proficient in AX; ability to develop project reporting in Power BI
Advanced Excel Skills: Expertise in complex data analysis using formulas, pivot tables, and modeling
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in financial tracking and reporting
Effective Communication: Ability to clearly present financial data to both technical and non-financial stakeholders
Stakeholder Collaboration: Experienced in working with cross-functional teams and driving change based on financial insights
Proactive & Results-Oriented: Takes initiative to identify risks, suggest improvements, and drive project success
